Hearty Lives

People in Hull are more likely to die early from Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) compared to the rest of Yorkshire and the England average – 1 in 6 deaths in Hull is due to CHD.

Hearty Lives Hull is a programme of community-based activities being developed by NHS Hull and Hull City Council, in partnership with the British Heart Foundation. The British Heart Foundation is providing £1.5m funding over three years to support new activities including sport, physical activity and healthy eating, as well as encouraging people to use existing services such as NHS Health Checks, weight management and stop smoking services.

Local teams work within secondary schools, small businesses, unemployed groups, and in communities where there are the highest rates of heart disease and lifestyle risk factors, to support people and families to choose healthier lifestyles.

Creative arts projects including dance, film and visual art displays are designed to encourage people in Hull to think about what heart health really means to them, and what support would help to improve a person's heart health.
